Our online courses allow you to learn the essentials of Edval Timetable & Edval Daily at any time and at your own pace. Cost is $395+GST per course.

D1 - Timetable Essentials (Self-paced)

  • Length – Approx. 4 hours

Course overview

  • This is the first module of the Effective Timetabling course and introduces you to the Edval timetable program
  • Learning content is delivered through video tutorials and supplemented with hands on activities using the software in a specially prepared training file. You will complete activities that cover the most commonly used tools and processes required to maintain an existing timetable. Additionally, you will learn the importance of ensuring your timetable file is kept up-to-date with the ‘knowledge’ of your school
  • This training module will promote confidence and develop competence in your ability to understand the software to edit and maintain your timetable requirements

  • Menu overview and shortcut keys
  • Setting up your grid, bell times and different days
  • Managing the school timetable knowledge through data entry screens
  • Menu overview and shortcut keys
  • How to get days off for teachers or put them in one teaching room across the cycle
  • Prepare timetable requirements for construction
  • Setting up your classes with the right timetable structure
  • Managing staffing and rooming requests for maximum flexibility
D2 - Timetable Development (Self-paced)

  • Prerequisite – D1 – Timetable Essentials
  • Length – Approx. 3 hours

Course overview

  • This is the second part of our Edval Timetable training program and focuses on developing a new timetable for the following year
  •  Learning content is delivered through video tutorials and supplemented with hands-on activities using the software in a specially prepared training file. You will complete activities that cover the topics below
  • This training module will promote confidence and develop competence in your ability to understand the Edval timetabling process and the steps required to prepare your file for construction

Edval Daily Essentials (Self-paced)

Edval Daily Essentials

  • Length – Approx. 3-4 hours

Course overview

  • The Edval Daily Essentials course will fast track you to becoming a super user of Edval Daily
  • Daily is our cloud-based daily organistion application used to manage day to day variations to the school’s cyclical timetable
  • When changes occur, as they always do, Edval Daily allows you and your staff to be notified, informed, and proactive

  • Setup of the school calendar
  • Defining absence reasons
  • Creation of casual/relief teachers and management of permanent staff
  • Creation and management of teacher absences
  • Absent teacher covers including daily absences, extended leave and repeating absences
  • Creation and management of excursions and events
  • Creation and management of exam schedules and supervisions
  • Room management including rooms swaps, room bookings and covers
  • Day and period management including:
    • swapping days in a cycle
    • swapping periods on a day
    • repeating periods

Aurora College (NSW Schools)

AuroraCollege

  • Length – Approx. 2 hours

  • This is a free online course open to teachers whose schools are partners with Aurora College
  • It outlines what is required to prepare your timetable file to align with the requirements for Aurora College’s grid structure

FACE-TO-FACE WORKSHOPS

Hone your skills with an Edval expert

Our one-day workshops offer an opportunity for the timetabling team to have dedicated time to work on the school timetable with an Edval consultant in a small group scenario. Workshop days are priced at $530+GST per person.
Line Construction Workshop

  • Prerequisites: D1 – Timetable Essentials & D2 – Timetable Development

When are these workshops available?

  • Edval will offer Line Construction workshops during term 3 of the school year

Workshop overview

  • Optional – If you would like some more help after completing Timetable Development training with creating your lines, if you are an experienced Edval user who wants advice on how to get better quality lines or if you want help your timetable for your D3 workshop later in the year, then our Line Construction workshops are for you!
  • Line Construction Workshops offer an opportunity for you and your timetabling team to have dedicated time to work on your school’s timetable with an Edval Timetable Specialist in a small group scenario. Schools can have their questions answered and receive assistance with their school file

  • Advanced line generation techniques
  • Analysis and optimisation of line generation solutions

  • Any other questions you may have about your timetable, before constructing
D3 - Timetable Construction

  • Prerequisites: D1 – Timetable Essentials & D2 – Timetable Development

When are these workshops available?

  • Edval will offer D3 – Timetable Contruction workshops from the end of term 3, and in term 4 of the school year

Workshop overview

  • This is the third and final part of the Edval Timetabling training program
  • You will be provided with a short self-paced course to complete before attending your workshop day. This will include videos, activities and handouts to assist you with timetable construction
  • Timetable Construction Workshops offer an opportunity for you and your timetabling team to have dedicated time to work on your school’s timetable with an Edval Timetable Specialist in a small group scenario. Schools can have their questions answered and receive assistance with their school file.

  • Checking for problems before you start
  • Creating a matrix type grid
  • Adding your years one at a time
  • Modifications that solve difficult problems
  • Splitting classes to balance loads
  • It is expected that participants will bring their own school file with them
  • This file should be at the ‘Champagne bottle’ stage, or in the final stages leading up to this where problems exist that you would like help in solving
