Edval’s training sessions are designed to introduce new users to our software. The sessions are part demonstration and part hands-on activities, with lots of Q&A time with the trainers. Morning tea and lunch are provided at all sessions.

Training Overview

Edval offers a 3 day Effective Timetabling course for Secondary school timetablers, a 1 day Edval Daily for Administrators course, as well as various workshops throughout the year.

Effective Timetabling

It is recommended that schools send at least two people to the Effective Timetabling course. Participants must bring their own laptop with them to all training days. The laptop must be running the Windows operating system.

D1 Timetable Essentials

This is the first day of the Effective Timetabling course and introduces the user to the Edval timetable program, providing a broad understanding of it.  This training promotes confidence and competence in your ability to understand the software and edit your timetable requirements.  Topics covered include:

Menu overview and shortcut keys

Setting up your grid, bell times and different days

Managing the school timetable knowledge through data entry screens

Menu overview and shortcut keys

How to get days off for teachers or put them in one teaching room across the cycle

Prepare timetable requirements for construction

Setting up your classes with the right timetable structure

Managing staffing and rooming requests for maximum flexibility

Participants will not be allowed to enrol in D2 Timetable Development and D3 Timetable Construction until they have completed this course.

This course is best completed as early as possible in the school year, to allow time to implement learning in your own school file prior to attending D2 Timetable Development.

Aurora College Online Course

This is an online video course open to teachers whose schools are partners with Aurora College. It outlines what is required to prepare your timetable file to align with the requirements for Aurora College’s grid structure. This course takes approximately 3 hours and can be done in small time slots whenever it suits you.

To register to enrol in this course, please email training@edval.education and you will be provided with instructions to access the course.

Successfully completing the entire course will contribute 3 hours of QTC Registered PD addressing standard descriptors 6.2.2 and 7.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Line Generation & Ctrl-Q Workshops

These 1 day workshops offer an opportunity for the timetabling team to have dedicated time to work on the school timetable with an Edval consultant in a small group scenario.  Schools can have their questions answered and receive assistance with their school file.

Line Generation workshops cover advanced timetable construction techniques, while Ctrl-Q workshops cover fault finding in timetable requirements.

Workshops are not included as part of the basic three day Effective Timetabling course, but are charged at the same rates, that is $495 + GST.
